Systemic Research Forum by IFT Malta
15-16/01/2027

Description:
The Institute of Family Therapy Malta will be launching the first Systemic Research Forum in Malta. This will be the launching of an annual event/meeting. It’s aim is to draw together some European systemic researchers, individuals or part of an institution, to continue highlighting the importance of systemic research, whether it is quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods. This Systemic Research Forum shall serve as a platform for all undergoing systemic researches and those interested in it, from where to launch their work. It is a platform also for students on the Professional Doctorate in Systemic Practice and Masters programmes to present their work regularly.
This will be a great moment for us all in the systemic field to join together all our different choices into one systemic voice and embarking on this important journey together. Please consider coming to Malta in January and presenting your research outcome, research process, discuss research ideas you can share to invite others to join you, and many other opportunities you might want to launch.
Αll the material presented during the Forum will later be made public through the puclication of a Year Book which will be made available to the public on our website.

2. Training Activities
Autism and ADHD from Unconventional Clinical Perspectives by Entropia

Description:
This annual training program offers a transformative approach to understanding autism and ADHD through the lens of neurodiversity rather than pathology. Instead of viewing autism and ADHD as disorders, participants are encouraged to recognize them as natural variations of human experience and to explore how they interact with a predominantly neurotypical world.
The program combines theoretical knowledge with experiential learning and collaboration with neurodivergent communities. It challenges traditional, deficit-based models and promotes a neuro-affirming, systemically informed perspective that respects the authentic identities of autistic and ADHD individuals.
Participants will critically examine how knowledge about autism is produced, the limitations of diagnostic frameworks, the impact of ableism, intersectionality, and the ethical implications of assessment and intervention practices. The course also explores whether current professional tools and methods are shaped by neurotypical assumptions and how they can be reimagined to better support neurodivergent people.
